Mark Griffiths Inspiring Plants

Cyclamen rohlfsianum - used to be rare in cultivation with a reputation for being an awkward customer. More collections were made and it seems the plants reputation has changed. That could be as growers tend to be conservative when dealing with rarer plants.

I grew it but had issues with flowering until I changed two things, I increased the winter temperature a little but I think the biggest difference was giving the plants a soaking in August. This does two things - it gives enough moisture to prevent the flower buds from aborting and gets the leaves growing earlier so they mature before the temperatures drop and they stop growing. The downside is that sometimes the leaves overtop the flowers.

Germination is not great. Some seedlings get away really fast and other plants remain tiny.
