Mark Griffiths Inspiring Plants

Cyclamen persicum - from the eastern end of the Mediterranean. Quite distinct with large elegant flowers in the winter and spring (see below re autumnale), pure white, white with a pink nose through to dark pinks. The leaves vary and can be very fine.

It is one of the least hardy so I keep mine in the greenhouse although there are some escapees which are out in the frames.

var autumnale is from Israel and autumn flowering. I have a plant but it only flowers in the spring (it came from Tilebarn so it has impeccable credentials). I've still not found a way of convincing it to flower in the autumn (last photo).
